Trauma Sensitive Schools

Trauma-sensitive (or trauma-informed) education is a movement that seeks to promote awareness of the effects of trauma on students’ overall functioning in school. Because trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) have implications for the social, physiological and cognitive development of students, trauma-sensitive schools seek ways to create school and classroom environments where students feel safe enough to learn and reach their full potential.

Toolbox trauma-sensitive trainings zero in on the direct application of these principles by examining the neuroscience of resilience, with direct training and hands on practice for educators on how to build safe, trusting relationships with students.
